Six Things that Create Unhappy People

There is one mistake a lot of people commit when trying to get themselves happy. They go like, l will be happy once l get that car, l will be happy once l get that promotion, l will be happy once I get married and it goes on and on and on but they are still unhappy when they get what they want. Why is that so? Why are people not happy with all that they have? That is what exactly this piece contains. We all get it wrong by working towards success thinking it will bring us happiness, but happiness rather brings us success, not the other way round. So let’s delve into the story of unhappiness.

What makes people unhappy?

Growing up, we didn’t know the answers to a lot of things, and we wish we did. One of those questions we ask ourselves is how do I be happy with who I am? Sincerely speaking, we know this answer ourselves but we usually turn and adhere to what the media tells us. The media says that l have to wear expensive and great-looking clothes, and I have to improve my body curves and shapes. I have to look good, l have to be likable, l have to be an outgoing person and so many other things which makes us spend a lot of money on clothes, supplements, wigs, and unnecessary things that don’t count. We become happy at the result for some time and later start hating ourselves when we look in the mirror because the aim was to get happy not to look like a celebrity.
Unfortunately, we are all prey on the genetic lottery that says our genes make up 80% of our body weight and size so there is a tiny possibility we can achieve considering changing body shape. However, there is a set point weight in humans, which makes it difficult to go through a typical day if we are way above it or
below it. This is why we get hungry when we lose too much weight and don’t eat much when we are overweight. When we get down to the fundamentals, one factor that makes people unhappy is a lack of self-love. What do l mean?

Lack of self-love

Yeah, Lack of self-love. One may ask, what is self-love?
Self-love means carrying high esteem for your well-being and happiness and appreciating yourself, taking care of your own needs, not settling for minor things that you deserve, and not forfeiting yourself to please others. Look, an important factor that makes people care about how we look is being attractive to the opposite sex. But focusing on that makes you lose yourself and fall prey to anxiety and depression. Yeah, it is true "beauty is of importance" but attraction is determined mainly by genetics alone. we are well-matched with partners of the same quality genetics as us.
The point l want to make here is that happiness is in the present moment rather than body-looking. Again, the next thing that makes people unhappy is a comparison of oneself.

Comparison of oneself

comparison creates discontent in your life. It makes one feel he or she is not enough and this directly makes one unhappy because it creates self-loops that affect the mental and physical well-being of a person. However, inward comparison helps you better your current state than you were yesterday. Another thing that creates unhappy people is holding onto their past mistakes.

Being too busy

A lot of people spend their time being busy instead of being focused on the things that make them feel alive. Business always makes you find happiness as an evasive intent. So, Instead of just being busy, why don’t we learn to focus our time on the things that make us happy rather than wasting time on things that won’t contribute to the best life?

Lack of real friends

Making a thousand friends is not a problem. The reality is to make a single friend who will stand by your side even when billions are against you. Life is about connecting with people, and if you aren’t sure how strong yours are, it may be time to find some friends who will always be there. Friends are a blessing of happiness. They reduce stress when times are tough, they cheer you up, and they boost your mood. Good days of friends are contagious. That is why lacking real friends makes you unhappy. we can not end this story without knowing the impact of happiness and some tips to make you happy.

The impact of happiness

happiness is a sense of purpose and well-being. It creates a positive attitude that translates to a diversity of effects on a person’s health both physically and mentally. Some health benefits of happiness include:

  • Happiness strengthens the immune system- According to research, the immune system activities of an individual rise and fall depending on their happiness. Happiness may help reduce the risk of developing colds and chest infections.
  • Happiness reduces pains and aches- people who are always in a good mood have a lower chance of developing pains and aches as compared to those in a bad mood.
  • Happiness fights stress- Stress is not only depressing on a psychological level but also provokes biological changes in our hormones and blood pressure. Happiness seems to temper these effects and help us recover more quickly.
  • Happiness protects the heart-people who express positive emotions like joy, happiness, excitement, enthusiasm, and contentment protect the heart from pressure, and are not susceptible to cardiovascular diseases. Their happiness always predicts a low heart rate.

In a nutshell, There is no formula for being happy. Happiness depends on ourselves, and when and how to be happy. But the following tips will help you progress in happiness anytime you are down.
Tip 1. Smile always-smiling causes the brain to release dopamine, which makes us optimistic and confident to carry out the day.
Tip2. meditate each time you are free- meditation keeps your focus on the things to achieve within a day. It creates a pleasant environment for you to be happy. Meditation can involve movement, focus, spirituality, or a combination of all three in your thought or reflecting on your achievement and successes.

Searching For Meaning

I know some close friends have probably been waiting for me to drop an article titled "Why Me?" , or maybe "I Can't Anymore," or let's just say "I'm Tired of Life." To be honest, topics like that crossed my mind the moment I saw my inbox flooded with, “We regret to inform you that..” —over and over again. But in my case, I didn’t say “Why me?” With tears in my eyes and a heavy heart, I could barely whisper the word that slipped through my lips— “Again?” Suddenly, my head started aching uncontrollably. I couldn’t focus on work anymore. Then the saddest news dropped: my backup plan was expiring in just a few hours. With my head pounding from all the rejection letters, I couldn’t even summon a pinch of energy to try again. I quickly packed up and headed home, hoping I could catch a nap. But even sleep didn’t want me that day. Then I remembered the responsibility I’d taken on—one that required my attention no matter what I was going through. Oh...

A Ring by 30

Before you rush into finding “the one,” find yourself. Chapter One Aisle of Expectations It was a casual dinner among close friends. We sat around a long table at a rooftop restaurant, eating, chatting, and laughing between bites. The sound of cutlery tapping against plates mixed with light conversations. Glasses were half full, some already on their second round. We leaned in to talk over each other, swapping stories, teasing, and catching up like we always did. Then — a crisp ping sliced through the noise. Clink-clink…Clink. All our heads turned as Daniel, grinning like he was holding a secret too big for his chest, stood halfway from his seat and tapped the edge of his fork against his glass one last time. “Ahem,” he said dramatically, drawing out the silence. “If I could have your attention, my beautifully nosy group of humans…” Chuckles followed. He turned toward Nina, who had just taken a sip of her drink and was already giving him a suspicious look. “We’ve all known each ...

A Friday to Remember

I’ve come to notice something in this life— The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race. The strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, the skilled are not always wealthy, And the educated don’t always live successful lives. It’s all decided by chance—by being at the right place, at the right time. Reading that verse over and over, it felt like God had placed a stethoscope to my heart and knew exactly where it hurt. Instant goosebumps. I had never felt anything like it before. It was like that scripture was speaking directly to me, giving me answers I didn’t even know I needed. Answers to the questions I’d buried deep: Why doesn’t life go as planned? Why does hard work sometimes lead nowhere? Why do things fall apart just when they seem to be coming together? Why does it feel like people love me, yet something still feels off? Why do things look promising but never materialize? Why? Then that last part hit me hard—“It’s all decided by chance, by b...
